I have a sony laptop, when I go to change the volume tru the start menu, it says there is no existing sound driver, then I go to the controll panel, and try to set up my external speakers, and it won't allow me to do that!... I HAVE NO SOUND!!!

Read the Laptop manual. There is a Function Key that controls audio.

The laptop should sense the external speakers all by itself.

You need to make sure that you have a sound card installed. If you do you need a sound driver.

because your sound drivers are missing.....download them from sony website and install themm at support.sony.com n u r all set..
