They have been bi**hing to the press almost non stop since the ceremony. And now I read that the town in which the ceremony took place is considering a lawsuit. Great way to have to start out a marriage.

Addendum: My way of thinking is that her fiance should be the one taking the hits, not her. And I'm sorry, but her in-laws could have been WAY more discreet in their handling of the situation. They chose the low road, and turned what should have been a family affair into a publicized "feud". A publicity hound is a publicity hound- doesn't matter where you live or what nationality you are, and they should be ashamed of themselves. Sorry, Ms Hurley- you have seriously tacky in-laws.

Lets talk about this without any prejudice or pre set mind. When someone marries a person from an entirely different culture and background, he or she must understand these differences between them beforehand, also be willing and prepared to accept and respect them, if not wanting to observe them in his or her own live. How can a woman be a good daughter in law when she doesnt even have the reverence and appreciation for the culture and traditions of the person she marries? How can such insensitivity be justified?

These things are apparent and inevitable in an inter culture marriage. If the people involved do not have the maturity and mentality to accept this, they better do not take the risk of their marriage.

Isnt Hurley, before anyone else, guilty of disrespecting the traditions, rituals and culture of the man she married, his family and his society? How are they righteous to be blamed for being hurt and agitated because an outsider has done things that degrade and disrespect things that they believe in, things that have been in their lives forever? Shouldnt she have known better? Shouldnt she have cared? Dont they deserve that much of respect and honor for being her new family?

Its just a basic understanding thats been missing here. All she had to do was to have known how to carry herself around when she was in people's land. Thats what we all do, isnt it? When we go to a new place, we make sure we do not do the taboo there, we do not stir up things that are forbidden there. Being famous and rich (or beautiful) doesnt make anyone righteous to disregard this. It doesnt make one exceptional to adulterate the customs or pratices that are considered sacred and venerated by others.

Its just a simple logic. If we live with cats, we have to meow, if we live with dogs we have to woof... If we do the wrong thing at the wrong place, we end up getting ourselves all messy. And thats not nice.
How can we close an eye and blame others, when we are the root cause of their distress?

Ok, perhaps the in-laws are reacting more than they should, but Hurley definitely has given them a reason to do so. Nobody's culture and traditions are baser than the others. For every one of us, what we believe is the greatest for us. And, we do not have the rights to debase the things other people value and rever just because we dont understand them.

They might be the worst in-laws in the world if we choose to think so, but she isnt the best daughter in law either. She started her entry into their lives giving them trouble, and trouble seems to take her on a toll.

We only reap what we sow.

It is a cultural thing; how the F was she to know? Now her hubby should have known better and if he wanted a Hollywood, not a Bollywood wedding, flown the to U.S. to have one.

I think it is ludicrious that an someone who is not a citizen of their country or knowledge of their culture to be charged with anything.
