Its been in 5 times for various warrenty work. we have now found out the bottom end is knocking and the engine needs to be stripped. I know longer want this car, are we within our rights to get our money back or the replaced for another one?

Your problem might be the length of time that has passed since you bought it.

Check with Trading Standards, they may have a file on them

Check how long your warranty is for and what rights it gives you.

You can try trading standards but having the car for as long as you have is the problem.Depending on the wording of the warranty you may be covered for the engine fault.You have no legal right to claim your money back after such a long time.The best way to handle a situation like yours is to politely ask the service manager what he intends to do to rectify your problem.If you get no satisfaction tell him you will contact his superiors.

It's within your statuary rights to either get a replacement car or your money back within 1 year as the car is not fit for the purpose it was bought for.
