If you really want to dance and wear high heels, learn something from professional dancers who dance on stage in musical comedies. Wear a good high heel character shoe made by a company like Capezio or So'danca. They both make such shoes with a 3 inch heel.

If those look too plain for you, order some tango shoes. They may be more expensive than what you wear now, but isn't your comfort important.? Tango dancers are those crazy people who will dance until 7 a.m. Their lifestyle requires comfort in shoes. Look at Tara Tango, http://www.taratangoshoes.com/,

High heels in general are not the best on your legs and feet. The main reason is medically those things put your leg and ankle in an unnatural position. Dancing causes you to put a lot of your weight, which normally would be distributed across your entire foot, onto the ball of your feet.

What you describe is common, you are putting a lot of stress on the toes, because in a sense you are dancing on them. Sometimes you are having so much fun, you do not notice the pain at the time, and it is not until your feet are out of the shoes that you can feel it.

The other thing, you might want to look into a shoe with either a wider width, or at least a wider toe area. It is possible the nerve trouble you are experiencing is because your feet are too tight in the toes.

Good Luck, and if it really keeps getting worse, see a foot doctor and have them look at it.

In addition to wearing the proper heels for the proper things like dancing heels etc make sure the heel fits. If it's too small and your foot is crammed in there it's going to hurt really bad.
