The intel core duo is faster more efficient and more cooler, the amd turion in my understanding is a mobile processor specifically built for laptops and the intel core 2 duo is made for both. So your having an intel core 2 duo processor in a laptop thats from a desktop that runs cooler and faster than a laptop processor.

Really depends on what your lookin to do with the laptop. Are you using the computer for actual work or games? Several factors determine computer speed but it really depends on what your using it for. Generally speaking, if your using it for games, the video card will be more important than the processor. If your using it for work, processor will be more important than the video card. Also, you need to make sure you have enough RAM. Generally speaking, I would make sure you have atleast 1GB of RAM in any laptop. Its pretty cheap now and many programs will use it if you have it. 2GB is overkill. Hard drive size DOES NOT MATTER. However, the type of hard drive does. The faster the drive speed and memory cache can make a HUGE difference in overall system performance.
Games are the most taxing thing you can put on any computer because they are very demanding in terms of resources.
The "best" processor is very hard to define. You have to balance cost versus performance and make a decision.
Go to this website and do some reading under "Hardware". They give excellent info the most current computer components.
Good Luck!

Ok. In a notebook, the Core 2 is a battery saver. It is know to conserve 28% battery life than any other processor. The fact that it runs cooler is a plus for notebooks because a notebook is small and confined and can get hot. I travel and use the battery alot. I need as much power as possible. So the Intel is better for a notebook, period.

At the moment, Core 2 is faster and cooler, apples to apples. AMD should be cheaper and is a bit hotter, but also a good choice.
Next week, who knows!!!
