I want to go on the pill because I have terrible cramps during my period and it is so heavy, I can’t take a few steps without it gushing out everywhere (sorry if I just grossed anyone out).

I know there are different types of pills, even though I’m seeing the doctor to get it for my period, do all types of pills still act as a contraception? Also are there alternatives to the pill for period problems?

Yes, correctly taken, they can be contraceptive too.

Pelvic exercises done without period may reduce the pain during period, but pills will help with the excessive flow too.

I would ask your doctor if he/she would prescribe you progestin only pills, for they reduce the endometrial lining (and the menstrual flow)

BC pills will regulate your period, they will be less heavy, probably much shorter. Yes, they still work for contraception too! I'm not sure about other alternatives, but I don't think anything's gonna help your particular problem better than the pills. They contain hormones that help regulate your cycle, in addition to providing contraception.

I suffered from terrible period pains forever. The pain would last 2 days sometimes 3.However, i took Maca Root one month before my period, when my period came i had pain the first day but the second day only a wimper of pain, how fantastic is that, so i continued taking it and the second month, the pain subsided even more. It is now 4 months and i hardly have any pain at all, sometimes i don't even need painkillers. Maca really works and it gives u energy too and relieves anxiety. It increases sex drives and balances your hormones naturally. I didn't bleed heavy anymore because my hormones were balancedCheck it out. Both men and women.

The only thing I could use was the depo shot which stops your peroid...but I know EXACTLY what you are going through and it is painful and embarassing(was for me). The only minus is if you want to have kids you will have to stop the depo and then your right back to square one.
