Why are we living ? Okay , I’m a teenager and I have been pondering on this question for a long time. People use to say that we live to find our inner self calm or to prepare for an eternal life in heaven. But it doesnt help me to come back in the everyday life again by thinking like that. I believe that I need to actually live to understand and stop pondering, but it doesn’t work. The only thing I deeply is sure about is that I feel blessed to be here , in the extinction. But when death and things like that pop up in my head, I get dizzy about that there is a lot more than just life. Also, I have a good life, a loving family, beautiful house, good food and good friends, everything is perfect – exept that these thoughts. It seems like we can’t be satisfied, never truly happy. I have all hopes and self-esteems I need, I just simply need a purpose for it. I need an answer , that tells me life is worth living , even if misery comes around !

You cannot know for sure why all life exists unless one consults with the creator of all life. I don't think anyone can ever 100% know this for sure. Everyone has basic instincts that cause them to do things without any thought at all. Such instincts define us, as much as our physical characteristics. These basic instincts include self-preservation and reproduction. So, you are "supposed" to do at least that. Our instincts operate on an individual and also a group level, and that's where you get other people trying to impose their will on you and generally wanting you to live/strengthen the group and help further/expand/"reproduce" the group, so to speak. A lot of high-level philosophical/ideological/religious tenets are really dedicated to this concept, and a way to get you to contribute to the strength of the group. Group could mean nation, tribe, gang, family, etc. So a lot of philosophies and ideologies will make you feel very good about yourself (you will be holy, you will be a good person) for this fact, because they want you to make the entire group stronger. Human groups operate in a hierarchy (another basic instinct a part of us), meaning that there will be someone at the top, someone who benefits more than anyone else from everyone holding the group up. I think that ALL beliefs can be distilled into someone at the top of a hierarchy propagating a belief system, consciously or unconsciously, so that everyone else works for their benefit. And of course there are competing heirarchies, religions, philosophies, nations, gangs, etc. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but that's what it is. Whenever you are seeking for a purpose in your life, what you are really trying to find something to own you, and ultimately it will come down to an exchange; they add you to the group and you do work for them, and you get the benefits of status, etc. That might be what you want. The alternative is to merely want to live, and for that to happen, you have to like life. If you don't like your life, you have to change it until it's how you want. If you can't, see above solution.

Hi.Sometimes it's not easy to understand what we are going through, why we are here , why we are alive. You know you could spend a whole lifetime thinking about this and not get any ware.I have been fortunate to have a loving family , good education, food on the table. So i should not have a worry in the world. But when i start thinking about what is happening around me i get sad and confused and upset .and wonder what is this all about why are we here why do people suffer why do people kill one another and so on .
Society has given us rules to obey and put restrictions on us and we are never really free to do what we like,I don't even look at the news on TV anymore because it is too depressing.I had to retire from work early through bad anxiety and depression 'cause i couldn't carry on.I drank too much for 20 years and had to go into hospital to stop. I was addicted to diazepam which was hard to give up ,.and even though i am ok now i still feel sick sometimes when i see suffering in the world and i cant get my mind off it and i have to try to snap out of it before i go crazy .So i think i understand how you feel .Just try to hang in there and you will make it.One day you will get your reward for your suffering.
Hope this has helped .
Cheers.

As you say yourself, really living and stop thinking about life may give you the answer. There is no objective answer to the question so you should never accept someone else's opinion. What may have worked for others will not necessarily work for you. Misery and pain may come at some moment. They are not welcome but they help you appreciate life.
Personaly I don't agree that spending this life doing preparations for the next one is a good option.

Sorry to tell you that nobody knows the reason or the aim of our existence. And we'll never know it, for now, at least. I find that it is good and logical that you wonder about it. It’s much better to be a reflective person, than a superficial one. But don't desperate. There is no answer. The only conclusion that I have come to, is to stop wondering because it's useless but start wondering what I want my life to be like. The truth is that we only live once so, try to enjoy it as much as you can. besos!

Child who is born have to live till his death. In the other words, the journey of life starts from the birth and shall end with the death. During the course of journey, we have to perform our duties and if we discharge our duties properly then life becomes easy otherwise it is vice verse. However this is subject to destiny as we all know destiny is supreme and final but still we have to discharge our duties in line with the need of the family and society. Human life is very precious and short. Enjoy every moment of life. Be happy and make other happy. Live and let others live.

We live because God requires it and has a greater purpose for us and for all mankind. God has a purpose for your life. If you feel blessed to be here. Life is just the journey to death, and death is just the journey to continued life with God. It is all good. Rest assured in that, and spend some time each day counting your blessings, because before you know it you will be all grown up and your life will pass before you like the breeze and you will wonder even more what lies ahead. God is great and God is good. God loves you more than you can imagine. He will lead you on your journey if you ask him to do so.

I understand you have anxiety over death and the immense concept of eternal life with God. That is normal to feel. Christ taught that we should not worry about what we cannot understand, but to develop our faith in Him that we may have confidence. Visit www.lcms.org! If you are troubled with these thoughts as I have been you will find answers at one of these churches. That was why I converted from other denominations to Lutheran because they did not have the same scriptural well founded and comforting answers. Peace.

Get out and LIVE: run through a field of daisies naked, find a puddle to JUMP IN while you're caught in a downpour, fall in & out of love with the same person more than once, go fishing for fun, find a four leaf clover and DON'T lose it, talk for hours with one of your family members in the middle of the night, reach out with a smile the next time you want to look away from someone who just may not have a family member, say something nice to a stranger- and mean it! But LIVE. :)~

We live because it would be a big drag to die the same moment you were conceived. We live because our parents brought us into the world and it is difficult to die. Each has to find their own purpose, there is no generic solution for everyone. Find one that seems to work for you.
