Two things come to mind.1.It goes against the very roots of their religion. 2.They are very apathetic. When Saddam was in power places outside Baghdad were falling apart. They didn't have jobs, factoties were all but closed. It was a dump.Half the time none of them had electricity oh hell I could go on for hours. But to make it short they became used to Saddam taking care of them.He sent in food supplies etc.Talk about a welfare state that's exactly what they had. That's one of the reasons I'm so against this war. They thought we would come in and take even better care of them. But we said hey get jobs,we'll help you build your country and maintain it.They don't want that. They want to be taken care OF.Well we all hate that HERE so why should we do it THERE.I don't want to be giving Iraq a free ride forever do you?

ABSOLITEY NOT!!!! The problem is when you have a supposed government leader of the U.S. attempting to woo a known terrorist sympatizer state and you have another supposed leader calling the attempt to secure freedom a failure it sends a mixed message to Iraqis about what we have. You also have a liberal media bias that filters out the good and positive advances weve made. liberals are using a very skewed tool to judge this war and a recent yahoo editorial put it best refering speicifally to the idiotic failure quote from Harry Reid.

Yahoo editorial: pre liberal whine, exact quote.
Consider this: How can the move towards victory in an ongoing war be measured by the mere existence of violence or by its intensity? While a war is taking place, it is - of course and of necessity - comprised of violent acts. Yet because the question raised by Senator Reid had been about whether we had been victorious in the war, he made an unnecessary and confused statement. Yes, the war is not yet over, America has neither won nor lost decisively, and it is precisely for that reason that one must expect to see the violence one sees in wartime. But in Mr. Reid's statement, he misguidedly concluded that the US-led coalition had utterly lost the war in Iraq, just because the enemy still attacks and counter-attacks.

But then, if one reflects on what the highest figure in the Senate has said, one would conclude that he and other like-minded politicians defy the implacable reality of logic.

how refreshing they FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT!!!!

Think Of Chicago during the Mob Violence of the 20's and 30's. 2 Major crime families shot the place up to the Point even the police were afraid to come out. It took a Major effort by the US Government to get thing to the Point where the Police could handle the Day to day routine. The common people are scared to death! The liberals and Congress are NOT helping the Insurgents tell the People that WE are leaving and to JOIN them or DIE. IF we leave we will have facilitated the Largest Manslaughter of all time in IRAQ!

step by step. It can't help that Washington is threatening to leave Iraq.

This is where draw a line in the sand really means draw a line in the sand.

If they are on the side of freedom, and the Washington pulls out, then guess who will be buried under the sand.

Think of someone you really really hate. Can you just wake up one day and say, I can't hate them no more.

You have been trained that family a is maggots. family b is fleas. family c is rodents.

Can you just wake up one morning and live in peace and harmony with maggots, fleas and rodents in your house?

I guess some feel it's best to exterminate. But in the end, all that exposure to pesticides will do them under.

It takes time, will and patience.

It's like South Vietnam, they want it- but they really want someone, hmmm, maybe a dictator, to tell them how to do it. Sadly, that is what they are used to, and our presence isn't going to change that, if they can't do it on their own.

They are TRYING to fight for their freedom. They see us as an invader. You would fight an invader too. See it from their point of view. Freedom to do what? Pick a president that likes the US?
