Do you mean a red glow of the metal copper being heated? That is caused by photons from the metal which are released as electrons fall back from their excited levels to their ground levels. This is a phenomenon that is related to the electron structure of the copper.

Or, are you referring to a visible red tint to the flame when copper is oxidized - a flame test?
