There are many different carbohydrates. Think about the formula. Carbo means carbon and hydrates means they partly consist of hydrogen and oxygen in about a 2:1 ratio, like H2O, right?

Glucose is C6H12O6... and other carbohydrates have similar formulas... consisting of those three atoms with about a 1:2:1 ratio.

There are more than 2 substances that are included in the group, but carbohydrates can be classified as an aldose or a ketose.

Lots of things are classed as carbohydrates. My suspicion is that the answer you're looking for is glucose and fructose however.

What exacxtly do you mean by substances in carbohydrates?? well! any carbohydrate is made of C, H & O basically.
