At university level, students are unlikely to take much crap. But it's legal. I've seen plenty of primary school teachers take their temper out on tiny little kids....they do it because they can get away with it - why? - because a tiny child sees the teacher as the Law. On the whole, clearly, things are not reported to parents. I'm not a sentimental mother, but even I find some things I've heard teachers say - and seen them do - to very small children at pri sch, pretty appalling. So you ranting at some spoiled 18 year olds really doesn't matter. Go for it.

Because one of the little boogers would go home and tell mommy and that unbelievable b!tch would come in and start a big mess with your school about how you are being soooo abusive to the little farts. Nevermind that you are having to try to discipline children that have none from their parents.
Ok, I will get down off my soap box. Though it is a nice view from up there!

because in this day in age, parents think their children are sacred and you can't say anything bad to them or they will go home crying and it will start a whole heap of ****. Like, in Australia, child care workers aren't allowed to say negative words like "no" or "stop" to children because its "mentally scaring them". BS i reckon. Personally, I would go for it. but no physical contact cause you can get in a bit of trouble for that ;)

cause parents don't like for no one to tell there BEBE kids nothing anymore ..They just want them to run wild so that the prison system can beat them to a pulp cause that is were half them will end up in PRISON..So discipline them verbally , but some of them need a good tongue lashing. LOL

depends on the students

Ask yourself if how you would feel if one of your students took his temper out on you!

gee! sometimes I guess you'd feel that way, but times have changed. Now you'd be severely disciplined for doing so!
As well as losing the respects of students...

i was an instructor in the service for about 8 of my 24 years, and it was tempting, very tempting. unfortunately, the people above you tend to frown on such actions. i'm sure yours would as well.....but i can sympathize, believe me. have a star!
