come to think of it. what if all of our ancestors were fooled that there's a being called GOD and since then, nobody was brave enough to tell the world that it was just make-believe? even if he did, the world would not listen.

Over the years, there have probably been millions who were brave enough, but there is a saying in my country that the most difficult people to wake up are those pretending to be sleeping.

The question if God does or does not exist as a kind of person with unlimited powers is irrelevant, because it is clear that this conception came up as an anthropomorphization of the feeling of every human being that there must be something more there. Every time we learn something new - and we do so every day of our life - we realize (or should) that the new thing we have come to know has allways been there. So, potentially, it is possible to think that there is an infinitude of "things" out there, waiting to be discovered. Some call this God, and some others Nirvana, some people gave it human characteristics to make it more understandable, previsible, and less frightening. But there is no evidence for an ancient conspiration to fool people into obedience with help of an illusion of deity.

Especially considering that Grog of the Cave Bear Clan invented the concept of God in the Year 35,563 BC to bribe members of his tribe to stay in line.

But seriously, the first signs of ceremonial burials among our ancestors first appeared around 100,000 years ago, which most anthropologists believe man first began believing in an afterlife and supernatural deities.

the problem is that just because you can't prove the existance of a supreme being, doesn't mean you can disprove it. Although many of the people who claim there is one, make it easy to claim there isn't one. When you say over and over that god is great, can do this and that and generally wants what is good for us, how then do you explain the trading of humans as sex slaves, war, rape, child prostitution, the virginia tech shooter? and on and on... Where is this guy? What does he think we'll ''learn'' from all this bad? Isn't it a little too convenient that we can't do anything about it, but in the meantime, the church uses this virtual power to get its way?
But with all that said, the universe is a magical place, and I can't honestly say there isnt some greater force out there somewhere, waiting for me when i die.

well this is certainly a question to be acknowledged.
yet no one will ever really have the answer.

it makes my head hurt to think about stuff when it comes to God and religion.
cause lets face it, no religion makes sense...its all a bunch of made up stories to be taken as gospel, brainwashed to the younger people generation after generation.

but still.
deny it however anyone may try, we all feel that presence, we all want that security and hope that 'God' provides.
theres something out there, even if it is just a figment of our imagination.

PEACE BE WITH YOU... the way that a person will define the existence of God or of gods will always depend on his level of spiritual enlightenment. Each one of you will have his question and doubts as to the true nature of this being that you refer to as "god", but yet the truth is every person will have a correct answer because the answer that will be given will reflect how much this person has experienced God. Your question will not have a wrong answer. As they say "to each ..his own". It is up to you to discover the answer yourself, for your perception of the nature and existence of "God" will be uniquely yours and nobody can question that. Religion at this point of logic becomes irrelevant.

A hoax needs intent to decieve.

That word does not include a crazy person screaming there is a group of big guys who picked the king, so he has the right to be in power and the king said, "hmm, that is pretty good."

All scientific evidence regarding natural phenomenon occurring in the universe, indicate to our human minds and scientific intellect, that the precise, accurate & apparently chaotic "patterns of occurences" (ranging from the microcosm to the macrocosm), do clearly indicate, the presence of higher and lower forces, "other than human," controlling these organised and even "apparently chaotic" occurences! We are only part of an immensely vast system and have very little clue, as to the forces, that control such system/systems.

No, i disagree totally. The greatest hoax is the existance of the democratic(liberal) party. The pursiut of the free lunch will ultimately be the financial destruction of capitalsim. The liberals know full well and good, they just dont care. Belief in God is a main support for faith based individuals. Belief in Liberal values is destruction, nothing more or less.

No, don't think so. Is it a coincidence the Bible is the most published book in history? After 2007 years, don't you find it odd that people still wear crosses to represent Jesus?
