The slope of a line is the vertical change divided by the horizontal change.

.. or.. the change in y divided by the change in x.

The y's are 5 and -3.... the change is -8

The x's are 3 and -2 ....the change is -5

The slope is -8/-5 or 8/5

you can get the slope of the line using this formula:
m= y2 - y1 / x2 - x1
in the given points, 3 is the x1 and 5 is the y1; -2 is the x2 and -3 is the y2... then substitute them to the given formula above.....
m=-3 - (5) / -2 - (3)
m= -8/-5
the slope of the line is -8/-5 or 8/5 is the right answer.

Slope Formula

m = y₂- y₁/ x₂- x₁

Ordered Pairs

(3, 5)(- 2, - 3)

m = - 3 - 5 / - 2 - 3

m = - 8 / - 5

m = 8/5

Slope = 8/5

If a line is passing through two points (x1, y1) and (x2,y2), we can get the slope by dividing y2 - y1 with x2 - x1.

y2 - y1 = -3 - 5 = -8
x2 - x1 = -2 - 3 = -5

So slope m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) = -8/-5 = 8/5
