When I first entered the job market I was paid .50 an hour for waitress work. Where I live now, 37 years later, starting wage for a waitress is $2.50 an hour. Not much improvement huh? I have made many diverse wages from assorted jobs but those are the lowest.

Sadly, the Australian government doesn't give a rats **** about occupational health and safety or education.

They thought that since my job was monitoring life and death situations of severely disabled children, such as breathing and epileptic fits, that I was only worth $7 an hour. And I'm an adult with qualifications and experience!

Then, like a slap in the face, they told me that I had to take my own tax out of that too.

How the hell can McDonalds teenyboppers get paid more to continually get orders wrong, than somebody whose job responsibilites are ACTUALLY based on life and death???

It's a screwed up world..................no wonder I'm crazy.......

my first job (secretarial in an engineering department for a steel mill) paid $250 a month, about $1.35 an hour in the early 1960's. My mother used to tell me she worked long hours for $7 a week when she was young.
