If England is having winter, Australia is having summer. England is in the Northern Hemisphere and Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere.

The seasons are opposite in the different hemispheres (North of the equator vs. south of the equator.) The reason for this is the earth is tipped on its axis. As the earth orbits the sun, the hemispheres are different distances from the sun, which affects how much light and heat they receive, and that is what controls the seasons.
