two boards the same 31/2in by 11/2in one laying down and standing up not long ways one on the table one floor

the you should get the same if you flip the boards take your frist mesurement table to the floor top of the board to the top of the board now if you lay the thats on the table down and the one on the floor up and take the same mesurement it will come up different everytime

If you are coming up with different measurements you are not measuring the same thing.

are you saying 3.5 and 1.5 ( 3 and 1/2, and, one and 1/2) or 31/2 and 11/2 ?
