I need to cleanup that area for spring bathing suit season. I hate shaving, waxing is just way too painful. Veet and Nair are so expensive and sometimes don't work. I thought about threading but I don't know how to do it. I can't really afford a fancy salon thing, any suggestions?

Well the cheapest way I know and the most effective way without waxing or shaving sounds a little weird but it works. I used to work in this fancy salon and they did this all the time and it cost them about a nickel and they charged 50 bucks. Go to the shaving isle or ethnic hair care isle in your local Walgreen's (or Wal-Mart or Whatever). Usually way on the bottom of the shelf you will see these little cans of Either Soft Sheen Carson Magic Fragrant Shaving Powder or Royal Crown Depilatory Shaving Powder (its cheaper at 1 dollar for 5 ounces). Buy a can of one or the other go home and mix it according to the directions (equal amounts of powder with cool water) leave it on according to the directions remove with the enclosed spatula. Do the allergy test if in doubt first. This stuff is dirt cheap, effective and relatively unknown to basic consumers. I know it says its for Black Men to Fight Razor Bumps but it works well for pubic hair too. I use it on my legs and underarms too without incident.

Threading Pubic Hair

Waxing is the best way to go. I don't know any salons that would thread pubic hair.....you can try and ask, but most would still recommend waxing. If it's too painful for you, try taking a couple of extra strength tylenols 1/2 hour before you get it done. It will decrease the sting quite a bit.

Threading is great but it can be pretty painful as my friend who is a Iraqi Beauty Therapist does it. What you could look into is sugaring...very effective. The main problem will be finding someone who does it..usually middle eastern people/ beauty therapists do it..but when you do find them..it should be alot cheaper than wax ect because they make it themselves! also..threading is grouse for eyebrows..get them to do it while you are there because it comes out very tidy with a beautiful shape :D

You want to talk about expensive and painful! Threading pulls hair out one at a time. If Veet and Nair are too expensive for you, you can never afford threading.
Oh, I just remembered sugaring. It is more expensive than Veet and Nair, but is the least painful. The only brand I can think of off-hand is "Sweet Simplicity." You buy it on HSN, or call: 1-800-682-7778. To get good results you have to do it exactly as they tell you to do it.

If you can't afford salon things, don't like waxing, or Nair or Veet, stick to the shaving. Better yet, if you have a partner, let him/her help you. Just an idea...Just use a good men's shaving creme with aloe & a new razor blade. If you use a new blade, there will be less friction and abrasion.

Since most of the resources available out there you don't want to use I say find youself a can of hairspray, a lighter and a bucket of water to put out the fire.

Hi!
I know this is going to sound majorly "ouch" but try tweezing. Sit down in some good light and tweeze away. Once you get past the first sting of it, usually the first one or two, then you're good to go.
Good luck!
