Hardly a secret then er? You said it, market hype.
people will pay big bucks for babble. Barnum was right. Sucker born any minute.

People have lost their center. They dont know who they are and have given up on traditional institutions for answers even though they go to church. (after all, these guys proved they were human by being human and acting like worthless buggers). So, if the church isnt the answer then there is a secret right? It's not a new idea. The Cabala, writings of the Essenes in biblical times and in the time of Jesus, the Rosacarians, with secret rites and the masons with thier mumbo jumbo, mormans with their secret temple ceremonies, what is THE secret? It was written about in about 1900 by william james I believe, nothing new. Shake yourself out of bad vibes, wiggle yourself into good vibes, the hippies already been there, done that.

This is not a new belief or fad, it has been taught for thousands of years. Just not mass marketed until the last decade or so.

There are many, many authors right now who are writing about the same thing. Each are putting a slightly different slant or approach on it. What the author of "The Secret" did was get some of these people together to explain it.

It's really all about energy and perception. The more positive your perception, the higher your energy, the better your life is.

The higher your energy (attitude) the more likely good things will happen. This doesn't mean that s**t doesn't still happen but the higher your energy the less it effects you and the quicker you recover.

"The Secret" -- think thoughts and things will come to you? So, those six million Jews must have been thinking about death so they all died? So people in Darfur thought about being killed, and that's why they're being massacred? I think it's nonsense, but, boy, it sure does sell books.
