Is there much chance that it will die, and will it be in a lot of pain? is it considered cruel to get it desexed.

I need to know this because I want to put it with my females because i think it is lonely, and it will not stop squeaking even after it has been fed. I do not have any room for more guinea pigs so do not want to get another male to put with it.

It is NOT cruel to spay or neuter any pet. It IS cruel to allow pets to breed uncontrollably, leaving many unwanted pets in shelters awaiting euthanasia.

Please neuter your male guinea pig before you put him in with the females. You won't have to worry about the females becoming pregnant, and the male will likely be less aggressive with the other guinea pigs.

Desexing animals is very common these days. Vets are quite experienced, which allows them to do the operation with the least amount of trauma and pain possible. Also, they can give your pet pain meds.

Almost all cats and dogs are spayed or neutered. Rabbits are often neutered. Even pet rats can be neutered or spayed. Most of the time they bounce back amazingly well.

There is some risk with ANY surgery. Make sure you find a really good vet.

In the long run, it sounds as if your pet will be much happier after he's neutered. Good luck!

Best thing for you to do is find a vet in your area that specializes in small animals and go from there. No its not cruel to have your animal desexed. I think its much more cruel to let the animal go thru its life being sexually frustrated because its never going to mate. Animals are not like people they don't have sex simply for pleasure, well at least not most animals, they do it to continue their line & reproduce. So basically if this animal is never going to be allowed to do this then desexing it will not only stop the production of unplanned unwanted animlas but will also relieve the critter of the sexual urge to mate, hence leaving a less stressed lil guy.

No I don't think it's cruel to DE-SEX your guinea pig-it would be cruel to get more pets than you're able to care for-you are on the right track now it's just a matter of making up your own mind. Pets do get lonesome when left alone the same as people. Good luck.

I'd say go for it! It is only recommended to neuter guinea pigs if REALLY necessary - and in this case it is, because guinea pigs need to live with another. It is much safer for males to be neutered than females as it is less invasive. I know many people who have had their boars neutered. I haven't done it personally yet though.

properly if your sister is incredibly seriuos approximately breeding Guinea pigs then she in all probability shoulg get 2 cages (men and girls individuals seperatly) so whilst the female falls pregnant you may positioned her returned into the girls individuals cage or positioned the male into the girls individuals tank and take hime out later. i comprehend how mom and father may be nonetheless and so she is probably not aloud yet another cage so perhaps you may desire to place some kind of divider into the cage. Any way i desire you the final :D
