It has been siad that women enjoy hugging and touching more than genital sex, whereas men have little interest in the "preliminaries," preferring to "get down to the real thing." Do you believe this statement reflects a genuine difference between the sexes? If so, is it learned or biologically determined?

No, Women like FOREPLAY...don't beat around the proverbial bush (pardon the pun).
WE like it all...the WHOLE package. We don't like getting cheeted.

When I order Bacon and Eggs...I better not see a plate with just eggs on it!

There is a saying that a woman gives sex for love and a man love for sex. I have come to find that this saying is typically true. However, there are always exception to the rule. I've dated women who aren't much in the way of affectionate and I've also met men who are extremely touchy-feely. I do think a lot of it is learned but not necessarily in the way most people assume. I think a lot of it is based on family. If your family is very physically affectionate you will most probably pick up the habit... whether you are male or female. If you are raised in a less physically affectionate household then you will probably not be too touchy.

I've had my fair share of girlfriends who think foreplay is a waste of time and like to get down to business. I enjoy the hugging and touching... but I have always just been an affectionate person. There are men that think foreplay is an art.

It all depends.

When we have sex both sexes release oxytocins which make us bond to our partner. Men also release testosterone which negates the oxytocin and makes the man want to pull up his pants and get down the road to look for someone else to spread his seed with.

So it starts out being chemical and then the macho men tease the not quite as macho men into behaving just like the Alpha male thinks every one should act like.

Have I helped?

I personally like the foreplay better than the sex part as well. Don't get me wrong, sex is wonderful, but I feel as if a hug or a kiss can be much more intimate than sex.

No. I think that neither sex can be generalized so completely. I think that there are different levels of need by men or women.

Just a point of common sense here. That people are different so much that it would be a typical path into error to say that everybody is "x" when it comes to "y".

I think that I like the "preliminaries" maybe more than the "real thing". Once the real thing is over, that's it! I like to make things last longer!

from my point of view, i (man) would enjoy foreplay and prelims only if i like the person and have an interest with her, but if it is only for a one night stand or just for a good ****, i would then just get down straight and do my part..typical man ah??

its quite true in sense. But cant apply on all.Even both genders express their love to theor partner by hugging and touching but for females its extreemely moves high till level of kiss as they might hesitate to start first but for man they are just they are " just do it" but its a pleasent for both. Both enjoy and likes the other way to love him/her.Its a counterpart sitaution.
