The sports leagues are unfortunately getting more "P.C" baseballs rules and changes are made for the hitters because home runs fill seats... if the pitchers could intimidate the batters by pitching inside without getting tossed u would see lower scores. but its happening all around sports, u can barely even tackle a QB any more, they want to get rid of fighting in hokey, and u cant even laugh on the bench in the NBA anymore without getting a technical foul.

Here is the real reason and it has nothing to do with PC or anything else except one invention -- the aluminum bat.
The current crop of pitchers in MLB never were taught how to pitch inside because the aluminum bat changed a sawed off grounder into a duck snort base hit into right center. They have been taught to keep the ball down and away with everything. Plus batters crowd the plate because they are used to seeing everything away and if a pitch catches the inside corner the hitter gets offended.
Pitching inside is a part of the game. Home plate is 17 inches wide and that is the width of the strike zone not outside half like Tim McCarver would have you believe. I do think pitchers should pitch inside but if you want to throw at a hitter play in the Dominican.

As some others have pointed out, the game favors hitters right now. I've seen pitchers get suspended for six games just for brushing a guy back, which is complete BS. Pitchers need to be able to pitch inside, but it gets to the point where they risk a suspension anytime a guy is hit by a pitch.

They still do. Most brawls in the world of baseball come from intentionally hitting a batter. if more than one batter is hit in a game it almost always means the other team is getting back at one team and hitting some of their guys. Now there are such stiff fines that teams don't really make it public for the most part, but this side of baseball still exsists.
Another reason this doesn't happen as much as it used to is because players get traded around so much, that they can never be sure who will be their team mate next year, so they try not to hold grudges like the olden days.

Question: "...Why don't pitchers throw at hitters as much anymore? I miss that.?
Answer: You don't really need to miss it anymore...Just head on down to your local batting cages...pick up a bat, toss in a $1.00 or so worth of quaters and take your batting stance ON HOME PLATE with your face directly aimed at the ball machine....a few quick fastballs and you'll be having fun in no time!
Seriously...are you freaking out of your mind? Would you want to get hit by a HIGH 90 (+/-) Fastball in the head? No! I didn't think so! So, why ask such a question?

They don't want to risk the suspension that comes with it. MLB has cracked down on things like that in the last few years and gives out a lot more suspenions than they used to. Five games off not only hurts the player financially, but it also hurts the whole pitching staff to not have him available if he's a releiver, or to cause a shift in the rotation for a starter.

The umpires are very strict about that now. If they think throwing at a batter was deliberate, they issue a warning. If it happens again, the pitcher is ejected. AND, contrary to your belief, I think that is good. Too many head injuries were occurring, so this was put into practice. Why must injury happen for you to enjoy a game?? That is sick!!
Chow!!

Of course a White Sox fan would ask this question. Don't have enough ways to cheat to win yet? Hey lets throw at people and possibly hurt them instead of playing the game right and use skill to win. Please.
