martin crowe represented New Zealand from the early 1980s until his retirement in 1996, and was probably the country's best-ever right handed batsman. Through the early part of his career he was also a medium-pace bowler. He captained New Zealand in the early 1990s. During this period he brought many innovations such as opening with spin bowlers (like Dipak Patel) rather than fast ones and opening with pinch hitting batsmen. Whilst coaching the 1992 world cup New Zealand only lost two matches (both to Pakistan) one in the group stages and one in the semi finals. He is generally accredited for this unprecedented success

He played 77 Test matches, averaging 45.65 with the bat, including 17 centuries and 18 half-centuries. He also played 143 one-day internationals, averaging 38.55, and hit four centuries and 34 half-centuries. In 1991, he shared a 467-run partnership with Andrew Jones, at the time the highest partnership in Test history. Crowe was dismissed on 299, the highest innings by a New Zealander in Test history.

he may not been the best captain but definately the best batsmen for NZ!

Not as such.
But his tactis as well as out of box desicision making capacity will alwyas be remebered in Cricket world.
For eg He was the first captain who statrd to score massively in starting 15 overs.
He was the first captain who gave second over of the innings to the Spinner that was also in World cup.
