hey you guys in my high school health class we were talking about mentrual cycles. our teacher said that if a girl is usually reagular, but is several days late before she gets her period it might be due to sperm coming in contact with the egg. i didnt think this is how it worked and this is coming from a christian school so they might be trying to scare us but i dont know, does this sound right?

i dont think i phrased it right...the girl GETS her period, but it is a few days off when she would normally. is this really because a sperm "brushed up" against an egg but didnt go into it? i dont think thats right...

A late period or absent period could be indicative of pregnancy. At that point, the girl needs to take a pregnancy test to know for sure.

There are several other reasons why a girl might miss her period. One, teens have very irregular periods. Two, stress can delay periods or make them absent, while sudden weight loss or gain can also make periods irregular or absent.

That's new one on me. It sort of sounds like they are trying to say it's a lost pregnancy, but ask in class for more info. Also, you can ask Planned Parenthood. They are very honest. I don't think your school would really lie to you to scare you. It's well known that when kids believe the lies they are told, or omissions of info about sexual health, that pregnancies are what ultimately happen. I've seen that happen too many times.

Yes, it's possible. However, she would need to get a pregnancy test, since her menstrual cycle could be late due to stress, illness, or any other number of things.
