At the rate of the explosion of the Chinese economy, you might want to think about Mandarin. They will be a force in the coming decades.

It should be spanish and/or based on the areas you live in cuz honestly the two main languages here in the U.S. are english n spanish. Us latinos are expanding and in big numbers. look at it this way,for example, if 10-20% of the population were french speaking people, wouldn't it be obvious that a lot of the career or job opportunities, in example, fast food, restaurants, bars, etc. would require french as a 2nd or 3rd language. So pretty much, i'd rather say Spanish, but then again like i said, it should depend on where you live and what type of businesses are in the city, town, state, whatever. well it's just an idea, and since i'm sincere, i wrote this, not to offend anyone!

No. I think we should learn English so we could understand each other. The Spanish and French should learn English too if they come here.

Absolutely! I think it should be as mandatory as any other of the science, math, social studies, ect. As for which language I think it should depend upon which region of the U.S. you live in. I think that every western state should learn Spanish. I live 30 miles from TJ and yet I can't speak a coherent sentence. And I am not alone. I think it is incredibly short-sighted of the state and federal governments to limit as English as the only required language. Stupid on so many levels!

It's helpful to know Spanish it really helped me in my career in law enforcement. But, when I went to Germany I was glad to know German because that's my family's language.
Actually knowing any other language is a help in today's job market. Spanish is a big plus for sure.

No, if the foreigners want to come to our country then they should learn our language. If we want to go to their country then we should learn their language.

Most people do. In high schools for the last 20 or so years, taking a language is almost mandatory, and is needed to go to college.
