At 39 most men are together. They have their professional life planned out. They have had their wild single nights. Most men at 39 are done with games and want to start a family. The money is in the bank and the credit score is high. Getting married to the "right one" completes the package. Most have friends that are married and want that feeling of forever, a stable loving person to share in his life. Most men who have never been married at that age will make the perfect husband. If you are divorced & 39 you are old enough to have learned from the mistakes. To know you can do this and make and do it right.

The older you get, the more logical your decisions tend to be. At 20, you would get married because...
You are in love,
You want to be with them forever,
You can't imagine your life without them,
You can both help make all your dreams come true,
You can get a house together,
and live happily ever after
When you get older your priorities change. You get married because...
Combining your assets will give you more income,
You can get family insurance coverage,
Your car insurance will go down,
You may get a better tax return or at least a better tax bracket,
You would have someone to come home to every night,
This person gives you a feeling of being complete,
You can decide whos house you are going to live in, sell the other one, take a cruise,
And then live happily as long as choose to......
...And (oh yeah) because you're in love.
You've got basically the same goals in mind, minus the butterflies and giggles. That's why a lot of second marriages work out better than the first ones.

If I made it to 39 without being married or if I was divorced, I'd say the driving factor is companionship.
Dad is like 59 or something, and he's dating after a divorce 6 years ago, and as far as I can tell, it's for companionship.

There are many factors. Companionship is probably the one thing that we all are looking for. Someone to do things with, to enjoy whatever life throws in your path, to live life and not be a bystander, and to be complete. Many factors are involved here. Growing older is one big factor. The way that you perceive things now could be the case (it's much different than when you were in your early 20's). You decide what you want and go get it.

Oh, for a variety of reasons....if he wants a family, if he wants a home, if he wants a partner in life, if he wants a stable family life, etc. Sometimes a person is just too critical and picky to ever find a mate. By the time they are almost 40, they realize their friends all have stable home lives with kids and a wife or husband. They want the same but the years just slipped by. He could have also be kind of a "playboy" kind of guy. Lots of dating and nothing serious. Now the girls in their 20's are no longer interested in him and he realizes he should find someone.

Not wanting to be alone anymore. Beware! A very pretty picture can be painted when someone feels desparate. The reality is, if at 39 they are still alone, maybe it's not the rest of the world!

If you are not married by the age of 40, the odds are you never will. I have a brother who is 41 and very happy to be single. So, if you're happy, ignore what others say and enjoy your single life!

I know there is one for a woman because of the possibility of children having Downs Syndrome, but I don't know of any one in particular for a man other than they would prefer to have their children grown by the time they reach their mid 60s.
