She was a very intelligent, educated woman. Here are some sites that might help:

http://www.luminarium.org/renlit/elizabib.htm
http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/mod/elizabeth1.html
http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-59919/Elizabeth-I

For all her regality and single-mindedness in not taking a husband, she could still be sentimental. Upon hearing that her sister, Mary, had died and she was now queen, she said, in Latin, "This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes". She also kept Robert Dudley's letter in a casket by her, with "His last letter" written upon it.

Google "Elizabeth I", and you'll find many good sites with links.

Queen Elizabeth the first or second?

Okay then,
You should definately read "Beware Princess Elizabeth" by Carolyn Meyer, its written for teens but its a really good book and has A LOT of information. Plus its written like Elizabeth is talking so it would be good for a Diary.

Hope I helped! Good luck!

~I would concentrate on her relationship with Diana and Chuck. Or maybe Bobby Dudley, Mary and Hank.
