I know from experience that when a bunch of people at work get bored, bad things can happen. What do you think?

The worst part was they gave us automatic weapons and pistols and cool cars and motorcycles. Then you get bored and "uh oh, how do we explain this?" I managed to total a brand new police car one night with under 1,400 miles on it!

Yes, I agree. One night, all the calls had stopped and it was dead calm. One of the officers from my substation had a bunch of bottle rockets. We all met and divided them up and we chased each other around the district shooting bottle rockets at each other. That was wild.......Now, you tell me?

I am an artist so for me idle hands can be in a creative process. However, when I was in the Army, idle hands could require a hazmat clean-up. The key is close and hands on supervision. Never let them out of your sight and respond to all periods of dead silence longer than 10 seconds. When employees go to lunch check out their work area to see what's cookin' then call a surprise staff meeting right after lunch and see their reaction to catch a hint of what might be going on. Those were the good old days.

I thought it was "play ground", but that statement works just as well, and yeah bad things can and often do happen, when a lot of people get bored at work. If I could only show you how bad my back office is right now you would agree fully!

I absolutely agree. I work in the health care profession and do you know that errors are made more often in slow times than in times where we are so busy we cannot see an end to it. I would much rather be busy than bored.

Yes. And that's why I'm on here so much. So I stay out of trouble. Yet every once in awhile I manage to get in trouble on here too.
And wow totaled a police car. Hope you didn't get too banged up there.

No, Lt. Dan.
I disagree with you once again.
It is an IDLE MIND that is the Devils Playground.

Yes, and I believe you proved your point. I pity whoever had to explain that one to the City Manager and Council or Mayor.

My grandma always used to say that to me when I was sitting around doing nothing. I thought it was silly then, but I teach in an elementary school now. I see it in action all day long. If they don't have something to keep their attention, you can bet money they will be getting into something.

Well, TJ, I'd like to agree with you, but not all of us waste our idle time.
Some of us fill it with educating ourselves and other constructive things.
