I have so many "favorite bands" that I don't know where to begin. If I"m looking for mellow hippy music - I opt for some grateful dead or the beatles. Feelin like hittin something - I'll throw on some Korn. When sad - Its Ani Difranco or DMB. In a good mood and up to jammin - NOFX, Social Distortion, or the RH Chili Peppers (Flea is a God on the bass). And anytime, anywhere, in any mood - Mike Ness live and accoustic. Music is definately the key to the soul. I couldn't live without it

1. Dream Theater-Simply amazing. Prog's best artist, hands down. All of their CDS are brilliantly composed and just simply brilliant. They go from metal to soft to rock to pop to metal all the time. Each CD has a different sound, that's what makes them so brilliant. Everyone in the band is brilliant at what they do.
2. The Elms-Great rock and roll band. "The Chess Hotel" was the most overlooked album of last year. Straight-up, in your face rock. Flat-out amazing. Owen Thomas has the best singing voice in the world.
3. Oasis-The Elms on their first two albums weren't straight-up rock like they are now, they sounded a lot like Oasis; maybe that's why I like Oasis so much. Oasis has great singing and music, period. Catchy.
4. Nickel Creek-Bluegrass AT ITS BEST. They have beautiful melodies, great voices, and fantastic composition. The mandolin player in the band is INSANE!!!!
