Which one of these is better?
and tell me why?
and if i name my daughter one of these is there any possibility of name calling,or kids picking on her with one of these names?
the reason i ask that is because where i live we have a department store called "myer" and maya sounds the same she might get picked on for that...

I actually have a friend named mya who works at myer, but people get over the joke fairly quick. i think they are all beautiful names but i'd go with maya as mia sounds like its short for something and miya can be screamed out to sound like mmmeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooowwwwwwww if kids get really creative.

I would think that Maya would be pronounced as My-uh. Not My-er. That sounds rather odd to me, unless you have a thick accent of some kind? Maybe English or American East Coast like New York or Boston?
Both Mia and Maya are lovely names in general, but we can't really help you as to what the "regional" reaction will be to the name, especially not knowing where you live.
Best of luck!

My personal favorite is Maya (though I prefer the spelling of Maia.) These are nice, respectable names, so I don't think that name calling will be a problem. But do keep in mind, that children will and can find a way to poke fun at any name (whether it's off the wall or common). It doesn't mean it will happen, though. I have a fairly odd last name, but no one ever said anything.

My friend just had a baby girl who she named Mia and I think it's so lovely! The only thing I could think of kids saying is "mamma mia"... Maya is good too but I still like Mia better.

No matter what your name is, kids will find a way to twist it around to make it sound funny and will tease you for it, I was picked on in school not for my first name but my last name and I have a very common last name. So if you love the name Maya, go for it, it's your choice. You can't worry if someone is going to approve of it or not. You can't prevent name teasing it's going to happen no matter what name you choose.

I really like Maya. A family member of mine named her daughter Mia and some of my cousins call her Mia Tortilla.......so I'd go with Maya.

Maya is pronounced Mye-ah not Myer!!! And thats the most beautiful name, which also happens to be my 4th childs middle name! We call her maya papaya and she laughs. No matter what you name your child these days kids will be kids and pick on them, if not for their name then their shoes or clothes or the way their hair is!

Mia. Maya will sound like myer as you said though that doesn't really matter. Miya is a little japanese.
