(1) Some years back, as the experts will tell you, a lot of farmers were killing their own families and then themselves because of economic conditions which made, in many cases, keeping their farm and providing for their family a lost cause.

The cause was a broad economic problem. Nonetheless it rested on individual farms and had to do with farming. These farmers were not gene pool problems. Everything came to roost on the family farm. (The Problem was in Farming and on the Farm).

(2) Some years back there was a long rash of U.S. Post Office employees shooting fellow workers and supervisors. This went on for so long that the term "going postal" became part of our language. Some pressures were outside the Post Office; but the killers were employees, or x-employees, and the events mostly took place on the work scene. There were work, supervision, and performance issues among others. (The Problem was at and in the Post Office).

(3) Over the years there have been serious prison riots. All involved people whose gene pool and personal problems might not call for sympathy. Still a large number of these riots could be traced to prison conditions; from poor food and lack of basic services, to under management, over management or corruption of guards and prison officials. And of course some were to cover killings by killers. Still
(The Problem was at and in the Prisons).

(4) Since 1996 there have been 47 events in at least 25 states with 158ppl killed and 92 injured in school shooting. (Add other stats and stated causes here) Maybe we should throw in all student suicides? After you type everything close with this >>>(((The Problem is at and in the School System))).

Killers or victims; you will miss the point if you focus on dead farmers, guns and psychology; dead postal employees, guns and sociology; dead prison inmates, dead guards, guns and criminology; or dead students, guns and biotechnology.

If you put up more security problems will still exist inside the walls. It is a problem of a failed educational system; as prison riots were of failed prison systems; as Postal killings were of failed internal postal systems; as farm killings and suicides were of a failing farm system.

There is a decided increase in violence throughout the world and all violence is related. However, the first thing needed to understand school shootings is a focus on the public school system K-16, where the problem dwells. Go from there and consider each case while looking for an overall cause. In a very real sense none of these 47 events are completely separate. They occur where they do for real and valid reasons compounded by the educatonal system itself.

The bad guys prefer unarmed victims!!.
When seconds matter calling 911 and asking the bad guy to wait is not a viable option.

Better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it!!!
**Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens.**

So you are against the private ownerships of gun! Do you believe in fire extinguishers? Why, you can always call the fire department!!

Bullying in school settings is a rampant and unaddressed problem in America. It's like it's acceptable to bully someone, unless it's based on race, or color, or religion. Why? My opinion: Bullying is unacceptable! Bullies should be expelled at their FIRST offense! The common thread that runs through all these horribly sad accounts is that the bullies were never brought to account for their crimes. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," the old folks used to say...
