Chrissy Hyde wrote this song after years of helping her husband (Pretenders Lead Guitarist) kick his heroine habit. She disbanded the band for a few years right at the height of their popularity in order to 'take care of him'. After years of struggle, she refused to leave his side and divorce him, until finally finally finally (yeah finally) he recovered. She went into the studio and belted this inspirational song out and a couple years later, her husband even rejoined but by then everyone had forgotten about The Pretenders. Now, maybe they'll get their due! :-)
