when you don't even owe the bill. She says she is with a law firm and won't shut up long enough to hear what you say to her and swears she will call every day until she gets the money.
She called a month ago claiming $ due to one store and now is claiming $$$ due to a store that we simply would never buy from. No mail, no bills, just this aggressive woman caller. Ever?

tell her that she is being recorded and that all future contacts will be recorded and actually set up a recorder to your phone. then ask her who she is and who she works for then tell her or her company not to contact you again or you will file harassment charges. You will have evidence that will hold up if she decides to call again then you may have grounds for a lawsuit or harassment charge. hopefully it won't need to go that far though and she'll listen the first time

You can go to radio shack and tell them you need to record a phone converstion they will show you the device you need and ask them how to use it and they will tell you

Assuming you're in the US, this is the highest form of harassment, and goes against the Fair Credit Act. In years past, several collection agencies (yes, even those claiming to be attorneys' offices) have had class-action lawsuits brought against them for just such behavior. You must find out what firm (or company) this woman works for, if she won't let you get a word in edgewise. You need to then call the company and explain your situation. Keep chewing a s s all the way up the ladder until you can get someone who can rectify the situation. If you have caller ID, you'll want to make note of the number she's calling from.

Explain that if the behavior doesn't stop, you'll have your attorney contact them.

The fact that it isn't your debt, however, is of concern. Is she calling for you or does she ask for someone else? Could it be that your identity has been stolen?

At the very least, you'll want to contact the 3 major credit bureaus to check out your credit report.

Good luck, hon. This is never an easy situation. I've included the link that will let you have a look at what the law covers, as well as contact data for all 3 credit bureaus.

You could seriously have something done about her. This is harassment. I will talk to a bill collector only if they are nice and don't get hateful with me when they start getting hateful with me I get hateful back and if they continue I hang up on them. When this lady calls I would simply tell her to quit calling that you don't owe the bill and if she won't listen I would see what legal action I could take against this company. Some company keeps calling me now leaving messages on my machine for someone who does not live here. I don't even know the person I am going to call the number and tell them to quit calling me that she doesn't live here and I don't know her.

its a scam, dont listen to her, try to get the number blocked, and if she keeps it up tell her you will press charges for harrassment.
