80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

This is a question in which there is no definitive answer. Our lives are unique. There is no formula to the meaning of life. It can not be equated to science, something concrete. We can not specify that one is thing is the meaning of the life while at the same time denouncing another. The meaning of life therefore is whatever makes us whole or complete. In this aspect the meaning of life is a subjective concept.

Everyone's life is a story, your life is a story. If someone will write a biography about you when you die, would anyone want to read it? Think about this, What stories/movies do you love to read/watch?
My example is Braveheart. William Wallace, an average farmer in Scotland only wants to get on top of his life and settle down, get married, have some children. The classic modern american man. But his passion for life, freedom, and his love for a woman inspires him to free a nation from tyranny. He loves like no tomorrow, he lives with selfless, rekless abandon. He lives for something more than himself and 'just getting by.' If you've never seen it, watch it! You won't be dissapointed. He fights for peoples freedom, that is my goal for my life.

Don't try to find out what the world needs. Find what makes your heart come alive with passion and GO DO IT! Because what the world needs are men whose hearts are alive with passion.
