I would advise calling your local wildlife rehabilitation center. If you cannot find one, call a local vet or animal control office, they should have a contact number.
Feeding baby birds is difficult and time consuming, even more so if you don't know what kind it is and what it eats. Unless you are willing to get up at dawn, and feed the bird every 1/2 - 1 hour, clean up after it, etc., until the sun goes down, it is best to take it to a rehabber. They will know what kind it is, have the proper food for it, and be able to put it in with others of its kind, if it is a flocking bird.
Please consider contacting a rehabber. If you are truly interested in helping raise orphaned birds, perhaps you could volunteer for them.

You need to put it back! Baby birds leave the nest sooner than people think. The mother nudges them out and then continues to care for them while on the ground.
It is extremely hard to care for a wild baby bird properly as well as illegal. Place it back on the ground where you found it, the mother will come back when you are no longer around. By keeping it your are pretty much signing the death certificate.
You may not want people to tell you to release it, but that is the correct answer. It may seem fun, and novel to care for a baby bird but you are not doing it any favours. The sooner people learn not to meddle with nature the better.

to make it more comfy get a box & put old towles in it & maybe a light for warmth. As far as feeding it worms & bugs should work if the bird won't take it whole you may need to mash it up gross I know but thats how a momma bird feeds their young you can try a small bowl & fill it with water. Good Luck with the bird if you have any problems you can always ask a vet

If you haven't taken it out of its nest watch it for a few hours and make sure that it has been abandoned.Try little pieces of hamburger meat and feed it using tweezer, and put birdseed and bird gravel down on the floor of the cage or where ever you have it,for water try a little bowl first and if it wont drink out of it feed it with a little medicine dropper. If it wont eat the birdseed and wont drink the water mix cornstarch and water and feed that through a water dropper.Take it out everyday perferably in a fenced in park and just keep picking it up and let it fly off you hand and chase it around to get it to fly.

Okay... I know what you can do. I raised a morning dove when it was a baby.. if it lets you touch it... try cornmeal mixed with water.. like a paste...and place it between your pointer and thumb like a beak and put it over it's beak so you cross it and let him swallow it down. put water in a bowl, hold the bird to show where it is...you have to lift the bird and place the beak in the small bowl a few times so he knows where it is to locate it.
This should help...or try small bird feed and place his beak into a small bowl with that in it too...he could naturally pick that up on his own. also, a towel in a cage could keep him warm and make it so its in a circle like a nest would be....
any other questions feel free to ask....
hope i've helped!!

the pet store has baby bird gruel. A mixture with water fed by tube into birds mouth every four hours. There should be a wild bird santuary to call that would take the bird or help you. Call animal county shelter for the number.

Best thing is to leave them out, don't touch them, and see if their mother returns. Their mother might not return if her nest has been moved or the birds touched. So I know it may seem like they've been left, but the mother may yet return.
As for food, there isn't very much that you can do for these little guys unfortunately. They won't take food from you, since you're not their mother. If you watch them for a day or two and no mother has returned you can try calling an animal shelter and see if they can care for them!

you need a small turkey baster type thing and some tweezers. go out and get some worms. cut them into pieces about an inch to half inch long. The bird will open its mouth. now you put the worm in its mouth with the tweezers. only go about half way and the bird will eat the worm. Then get the baster and squeeze a couple drops of water into its mouth. Continue this until it has had about 6-10 pieces of worm and about 30 drops of water. do this 2-3 times a day. i know this because I used to nurse birds back to health for fun.

Take it to the SPCA, that is what they are there for, wild animals should be seen after by people who have been trained. It could die with you, it will live with them. and they will set it free when its time. Your a good person, by wanting to take care of it. If your wanting the job, call pet stores, and ask them what they feed there baby birds who lost there mom.

You could try giving it water in a dropper. Give it a nice soft warm place to sleep. I'm not sure what to feed it. Bird seed maybe? I hope you are wearing gloves. Birds are very dirty.
