Hi, I really hate my job, I've work in the same restaurant for the last 4 years. I worked with so many different cooks, that have come and go and I'm still there. I hated it the first day i was there thought it was boring, but everybody says it will get better here is the problem the people i work with the rudest and crudest people ever. i work six days a week and still cant get 40 hrs. i have been there 4 years and one thing that irritates me the most is, a new supervisor is hired, he makes $5 more and hour than i do, i have been there 4 years he has been then 1 day, and making more than me, and what does actually do, nothing, i work opens and closing shifts, doubles and split shifts, do inventory, what does he do, night studpidvisor. he is always telling me that i have no experience and i am wet behind the ears yet. yeah right loser, its a screwy situation. i have thought about quitting every year, i dont know what direction to go in, what should i do.

What are your options??? You don't ever just "quit". You need a plan. You are going to quit one thing to begin doing what???

And my dad used to always tell me, "You never quit a job unless you've already accepted another." I think there is some wisdom in this advice.

I'm not saying not to quit ... but what I am saying is don't do anything erratic. Learn from this job, what you like and don;t like, and then plan to find another that suits you better, taking your experience with you.

If your boss asks why you are leaving, simply tell him you found a job that paid more OR tell him that after 4 years you were hoping for a promotion and it doesn't seem like one is coming, so it is time to move on ... There is no offense to being honest with this respect. And I wouldn't talk to the new guy one step above you ... I'd go higher and talk to another manager or perhaps the owner ...?

At the end of your life, when you get to account for the time you spent on earth, will you be happy with the choices you made? Will you have regrets over years you spent doing something that made you miserable for a few dollars?

There is no point in earning a living if it means compromising the life you are working to sustain. Leave the job, follow your bliss.

Anyone that has stuck with a job (especially if the conditions are as bad as you say) shows a great since of stability! I am a home based travel agent, and I LOVE IT. This is something you could do part time, until you got the hang of it, and then you could quit that job! If you would like more info on how to do this yourself, please go to my website...

You must quit

in that kind of job the pay will not go up much unless you negotiate a higher pay with another business... by staying at the same job they do not recognize workers very well

You should definitely go job hunting and find a job that you think you will actually like... then quit. Because if you hate your job that much, you shouldn't have to stay there. Especially if you aren't making moneywise what you think you should be.

If you can go to college do that. Otherwise, find a new job & then quit. Check out www.fafsa.ed.gov. for financial help with schooling.
