Being grounded means to be realistic ... to be earthy and natural ... to not have your head in the clouds and full of silly dreams (but it's OK to dream). To keep someone else grounded would be to help them be real and honest and natural. To be a strong force in their life and help them be grounded.

Staying grounded is staying centered on principals and ethics that guide your life and decisions. For those of us who believe in God, we are grounded in Christ. It is the source of direction and hope in times of struggle and also a source of joy. Some ppl are grounded in a particular philosophy, or have a strong practical common sense approach that makes them particularly appealing as a confident or source of information---we call them well grounded because they are realistic, dont fantasize and can offer experience, strength and hope that is useful, considerate and practical. Hope that helps.

If you mean grounded in a common goal or belief then it's to give them a firm foundation in the subject. Otherwise grounding is restriction of a person for a violation or rule infraction.

if it's not meant in the way that you've done something wrong so you have privilages taken away...then it means...keeping this person down to earth* (grounded).
If a celebrity becomes one overnight (young teen star for instance) but he's still quite a grounded person...means they remember where they came from, their roots...and are not snobs*.........keeping the person focussed (to keep someone grounded...down to earth* not over the top*
