We have a 31 foot fifth wheel with slideouts that we pull with a Chevy 3/4 ton extended cab 450 engine pickup truck.
We are an older disabled couple, so traveling with an RV is the only way to go. We can stop and rest whenever we need to or want to; fix a meal; and just relax. We don't have to worry about finding a hotel, or even an RV Park, if we need to we can pull into a parking lot or other area that isn't posted against RV's and/or overnight parking. Also, we have a bathroom with us, so if the need arises, we merely have to pull to the side of the road!
We travel with our pets, so having our own home/lodging with us all the time makes this much easier. Our cat (and our small dogs, when they were alive) rides in the trailer, usually watching out a window. Our huge horse of a dog rides in a crate in the bed of the pickup (his choice).
We like having a fifth wheel rather than a motorhome because we take the pickup a lot of hard to access areas for my photography. If we did have a motorhome, we would probably pull a jeep behind it.
RV Parks are a mixed bag. Some are excellent, resort like, with many amenities (like spa, pool, golf course) and of course are more expensive. Most we have stayed at have been clean, provide the basics as well as cable TV and wireless internet, showers, and laundry facilities. A few have had dirty facilities, charge extra for showers, and have no extra's.
Worst part of RVing? Um ... well ... no reliable internet access? (unless of course you can afford satellite internet.) As an internet junkie, that is a big deal for me, lol. Can't think of anything else negative.
