I tried ripping the movie "Stay Alive" with my new iMac about 4 or 5 times and each time it said there is a bad sector in the rip and it won't let me burn it. I've done the same process with other dvd movies but it just won't let me do it with this one. I use the program "Mac the Rippper" to rip the movies and Toast 8 Titanium to burn the dvd. P.S. I checked the DVD for scratches but it doesn't look like there is any significant damage for that to be the cause of it.

There may be a bad area or sector in the files. More or less it may be an internal problem with the disk. You might want to try ripping it on another device to see if it is the disk.

The blank dvd you've used has a bad sector on it causing it to not work correctly. This is usually ( but not always) caused by using a blank that came from a stack of over 50 blanks. A lot of people buy 100 blanks at a time and lots of them are useless because of the pressure from the stack. All you can do at this point is trash that one you've been trying to use and start the whole process over from the begining. Also, check with the documentation that came with your burner to see what 'brand' blanks they reccommend. Some burners work better with certain brands than others.
