My computer is acting like I am short on ram. My full amount of ram is detected by windows but I am wondering if one of the chips may not be working.

Hi. Not very likely but ALL RAM will run at the speed of the slowest module.

Have you run a memory check within DOS?
try hirens boot cd for utilities, its a free very powerful utility that will need to be burned to cd and run on start up.
