How far can the governor make it if he were to live on the food stamp amount most people, on public aid, get?

I see the Gov. of Oregon went shopping with his $21 in food stamps for the week. How would the majority of the politicians feel if they all had to feed their families is what they got in food stamps? What would they be willing to give up so they can feed their children?

As far as Greg is concerned......I have been in that position before. I have been a waitress for 27 years and probably make more than you could imagine. It wasn't a question for anyone to be condemed for, it was just a question. Unless you have walked a mile in that persons shoes and have experienced a situation like that.....maybe you should try living off $21 per week and see how far you can stretch it for your family!!!

I don't know but when I was on them, there was quite a bit left over each month and I ate the same foods I always have. Remember that it is a safety net and not designed to live the high life with.

Oh boy, it's sounds to me like Greg is getting touchy on this subject, as always, it's easier to go on the offensive, and off the subject of the answer, than to answer the question being asked. Sounds like he doesn't want to even think about living off of 21.00 a week, so better to tell you to back off and stop taking his 21.00 from him, but I bet the billions we give to the War is acceptable, can't give a couple of bucks to our poor, but we can pour billions to people who we don't know, and will never say thank you, or pay us back by getting a job in their country and sending a few dollars a week out of thier paychecks back to our country in order to help us pay back the deficit we are digging ourselves into by helping them, or to thank us for our generosity towards them.

Why are you sponging off us taxpayers in the first place? As to your first answerer, we are talking about Oregon, NOT California, so her response is moot. Why don't BOTH of you grow up, get a job, get a life, and leave the rest of us alone??!!!!!!!!!

Wow. am I getting scathed. I would never allow myself into a situation where the Government is allotting me 21.00 per week??? Stay in school, then get a good job, and don't allow yourself to get caught up in that spot. As to the Iraq war, and the waste of money on it, what does that have to do with your question??? As to the Politicians, let's put them back on OUR Social Security system, and it will then be fixed forever.
I never intended to offend anyone, I am just stunned that there are people who will rather live on 21.00 per week food stamps, rather than getting a job, and having at least some sort of pride in themselves.
