Louisville is so-so.... kind of bleak. Lexington is snotty....
Atlanta is over-populated & the traffic sucks
don't know about OKC or Salt Lake City
--Houston is hot & dull
pretty much same for Birmingham
- Austin is o.k., but getting too crowded, not as good musically as it used to be
-- Denver & Seattle are beautiful-- incredible scenery, clear air, culture....

1. Birmingham. We moved here from Chicago three years ago. We had misgivings but wound up loving it here. A great arts scene and friendly community. It's not too big and not too small. And there are tons to do here. Try to live South of town inside the 459 corridor. Life is pretty perfect there.
2. Seattle is really great, with lots to do there. Very expensive though.
3. Salt Lake City is nice. Maybe tooooo clean cut. Kind of like Stepford, if you ask me.
4. Atlanta. Good town to visit, but a terrible place to live. Traffic is a continuous misery, and will only get worse.
All the rest? I haven't spent much time in those cities, so I can't render an opinion.

I was born in Lousiville KY and moved to Denver when I was 5, so I think this is the perfect question for me.
Goods for Denver:
1. Mountains (skiing, sight-seeing, etc)
2. No humidity!
3. More snow
Good for Louisville:
1. No altitude
2. More trees, less plains
3. Not as urban
Your choice!!

OKC is redneck heaven. Lexington is nice and easy. Chicago is an armpit. Milwaukee, a lesser version of Chicago. Charlotte, hot economy, growing rapidly. Dallas- Fort Wayne, not even if you gave me free rent. Atlanta, too black. Seattle, prohibitively expensive. Denver, a new and expanding city. But if you like a more lush landscape you won't be happy.

I say Atlanta only b/c I lived there. It's a beautiful place to live. When I was out there I met soooo many people from L.A. who were tired of living here. I plan on moving back within the next 10 years.
G'luck.

Never having been in any of these cities except for a possible layover on a flight, I have absolutely no opinion.
Just thought you'd like to know that.
