We're in this mess because a Republican President's family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since George H.W. Bush was ridiculed, humiliated, and criticized for not 'finishing the job' and ousting Hussein during Desert Storm.
We're in this mess because a Republican Vice-President and his Exxon-Mobil buddies want all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands - at any cost;
We're in this mess because the most arrogant, cowardly, incompetent, greedy, Republican-dominated Congress in U.S. history didn't do its homework, and ignorantly allowed George W. Bush to initiate an unconstitutional, illegal 'war' based on faulty information and outright lies;
We're in this mess because the giant U.S. military-industrial complex has realized ever since World War II just how profitable 'war' can be. So they bought up all the dirty politicians, hired pricey lobbyists, and formed special interest groups to promote and encourage 'war'. This, the U.S. has been embroiled in the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War; Vietnam; and Desert Storm so that companies like the Carlyle Group, Sikorsky, Lockheed-Martin, Halliburton, and McDonnell-Douglass can make billions of dollars in profits, thanks to the U.S. taxpayers.
Republicans have put Americans TRILLIONS of dollars in debt just so we can fight an unjustifiable 'war' against a nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States; that helps the giant American OIL companies continue to feed America's addition to cheap, easily-accessible foreign OIL; and that boosts the profits of some of America's largest industrial corporations.
Without so much as a thimble-full of remorse or moral accountability, a Republican-dominated government allowed this obscenity to happen in the name of protecting us against 'terrorism' and 'bringing democracy to Iraq'. Nothing could be further from the truth. If the Bush administration truly expects us to pull out of Iraq anytime soon, WHY are building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the 'new' puppet government installed by the Bush administration?
How can you bring "democracy" to a country that has been ambushed by a civil war that's lasted for 1,400 years - and what gives us the right to impose our form of government on any other nation in the first place?
George W. Bush will go down in history as the stupidest President ever (to date), and historians will eventually recognize that his reckless war and economic policies brought on the worst economic depression in United States history. -RKO- 04/25/07

I wish I knew. I am so glad, I don't have any family over there in Iraq, and neither does most if not all of Congress.
