pathetic as it may be I had to memorize a huge list of prepositions in 3rd grade. I did it by jumping rope and reciting the list each time my feet hit the ground - it worked! 20 years later and I'm still remembering them!

in, beside, on, towards, toward, beyond, before, after, behind, above, below, into, with, with out, and others, but those are like the basic ones. Just think of ANYWHERE a squirrel can go on a tree, for example a squirrel can go UNDER a tree. And an example of it not working like a squirrel can go "BUT" a tree, see it doesn't make sense, it has to make sense.
