I'm a conservative person, so that cuts down on a lot of trash...
My parents (yes, I'm still a pre-teen) gripe on me to conserve, conserve, recycle, recycle, that technology has not granted us a second Earth...
But I see no point in opposing them. It sounds reasonable.
If every single person in the world reused five sheets of paper, over ten trillion trees would be reused.
Thus, I conclude that it's a collective effort. It's not SOMEONE that has to do something, it's EVERYONE.

Preserve water, save gas, quit buying things you don't need, recycle... etc.
Oh and be sure to walk if you can! Don't drive whenever possible.
