The question is... what measure do you use to know when you are happy. I am old enough to know that happiness is found within. Society lends one to think that making money will make one happy. And it does help. But there are many people with money that are not happy.

Too bad our culture does not measure happiness with values like being a good father or being a good husband or wife. Being honest. Being wise.

Happiness must be found within. It cannot be found in money or religion, it must be found within you. So, you need to search for what makes life meaningful to you. What makes life fun for you. Don't rush it, make it an adventure. Have fun with it. It is a quest. Have fun on your quest.

Also one last note. Depression gives a person depth and sensitivity. It is not all bad. Don't look at it as such. It may be part of your gift.

Ahhh.. A great question in life.

I think ultimately it will become more complete for all of us as we simply begin to cultivate some kind of spiritual practice
and as we begin to see the world in the mass flow of energy that it really is and how everything is somehow connected.

We also learn that change is inevitable and everything comes as a great teacher.

Depression may just be an actual sign of your spiritual advancement as you realize that the material world and all that society is telling you to do, have, and become ....
is perhaps in many ways very meaningless. ...
As we come to understand that the material fades.
Cars get scratched, houses get old.... and yet perhaps, we are so upset by that which is inevitable.... Change.

Also,
if you have the resources....(varies from $20 to $35 a month)
you can sponsor a child in a third world country.
You will actually be directly effecting the life of a little boy or girl. They will even write and send you a photo. This can definitely give us a new perspective. And it will be sheer joy receiving thier cards and letters.

Draw an imaginary circle around yourself. Within that circle, you are in charge. You may enjoy your own fantasies, define your own happiness. That is success. Let the rest of the folks outside your circle howl! Somebody in your life doesn't want you to be happy. Let them rot in their own circle. You don't need them.

If you are a Christian find a church that you really enjoy, and develop a strong relationship with God. He will help you in every way you need, all you have to do is ask and he has promised he would hear your plea.
