Hi! I have recently started making soy candles and I love it! Soy is a natural product, very clean burning, unlike your traditional paraffin candle. Making soy candles is like cooking: you melt the wax on a double boiler, add your dye and fragrance, pour into a container and let it cool down. You will need to buy several supplies, other than the wax, dye and fragrance and wicks.. They will include a postage scale to measure out your wax, a double boiler with a pourer, and a basic candy thermometer. You do not need to spend a lot of money to get started. I would search on-line before going to crafts stores - it will be cheaper.
You may want to try yahoo groups - there are a number of candle making groups where people share information or try www.cwlight.com/soycandlemaking. You will find a demo on candle making. Good luck, I hope you try it.

Hi.
Making candles is pretty easy. Here is a simple way to do it that even doesn't require melting wax:
* Buy granulated wax
* Fill a small container (e.g. votive holder) with it (no need to fill it to the top)
* Insert a pre-waxed wick in the center of the container and trim it about 3/8 inch (12mm) above the wax surface.
Your candle is done and ready!!!
No melting, pouring or other messy stuff.
If you do want to learn how to make candles the "regular way", this is an EXCELLENT site with detailed instructions, pictures and everything:

Another easy way to start making candles is buying a starting kit. They come with everything (including was, wicks, dye, fragrance, etc. and full instructions), and you can make "real" candles by using them. Check online or just browse your local craft shop.
And for all sorts of ideas, projects, news, tips and more candle making related information, you can visit my candle making blog:

And - the most important thing - don't forget to have fun too :-) Good luck!

Hobbie stores have a lot of candle supplies. You will need wax, wicks, some powder that you mix with the wax to make it melt slowly, scented oil, and a mold.

>>u can just use crayons and melt them to make candles
That's wrong,
You might be able to use the crayons for colouring, but they won't make a candle.
You need special candle wax (there are types for votives, types of wax for pillars etc...)
Then you need special candle fragrance oil - molds, wicks (not lead based)....and other stuff I assume.
I don't make 'em but know a lil bit
