About 2 weeks ago I started having a slight back ache, only when I would sit for a while. It gradually became worse & worse. It now hurts when I sit, stand, & walk.
The only time I have relief is when I'm lying on my stomach. The pain is in my lower back, right side and sharp pain shoots down my right leg. It also makes me lean to the right when I walk and sit.
Sometimes if I move my back a certain way it gets a sharp pain and switches sides so that I lean to the other side and my hip hurts something awful.
I have gone to the Er and they tested me for kidney stones and an infection all came back fine. I then went to a back specialist whom said I have a pulled muscle and gave me pain killers and muscle relaxers.
Its been going on for weeks now and I just feel that its something else.... they did do xrays and found nothing! Has anyone had this same problem? What was it? And how did you treat it? Is there any special exercises.. Please help! Any help would be great...

You may have sciatica...pain in your lower back that radiates and affects your limbs (leg) caused by the sciatic nerve being pinched. A pinched nerve wouldn't show up in an x-ray, but if they ruled out a herniated disk or back injury it would probably be okay to gently exercise and strengthen your back. I listed a website that has exercises to strengthen your back, but definitely see a neurologist and find the exact cause...I'd hate for your back to get worse because of lay people guessing at your diagnosis.

This sounds like a disk problem. In particular the L4 because the pain going down the leg is sciatica pain. Go to a Orthopedic Doctor.

Sounds like bulging disc. Kind of strange that it switches legs, usually stays radiating down or wrapping around one leg. Get a second opinion and an MRI!

Best of luck. OH, try lying on your back with pillows under your knees, really helps me - also pain block injections are wonderful!!

Everybody has lower back pain at some time in their lives. It sounds like you have a pinched nerve. The one exiting a vertebra and going out to your leg. See a good Neurologist and let him check you out. It is important!! Pops
