Hi!
I live here in Japan and the actually have a gizmo where you can do it yourself. I did mine with no problems and I love it. Didn't hurt a bit!
Good luck!

It won't hurt if the person piercing it does it right. There is a small spot on your nose where there is no cartilidge, and as long as they take the time to find it and they pierce it there, there won't be much pain. Nose piercing is done with a needle, mainly because using a stud gun causes blunt force trauma to the cartilidge and can actually shatter it. Also, guns can't be cleaned properly and therefore you have a higher risk of infection, and with a needle, you get a more clean hole when you're done. :]

it doesn`t hurt at all & yes, it`s usually done with a needle...only a professional working in a piercing studio will use a needle, so don`t go to a place that uses the gun...

p.s. the needle may be old school, but it is the most acceptable way to perform this piercing...guns cannot be properly sterilized & do not make a clean hole when the piercing is done, causing your tissue to be mangled...an unsterilized gun can pass on disease or possibly cause an infection right from the start...the needle is better & safer!!!

Nose piercing's do not hurt in my opinion. Felt like a small pinch and that was it. I got mine done in 1992 and at that time they were using the guns. It did not hurt, it really depends on your tolerance level for pain. Honestly it is quick, so you should be okay. The needle is old school, if you have a friend that you trust than go for it.
