PS. I don't recommend 'RUNNING 'bamboo unless you build the proper structure for it. It usually takes a 3 foot deep concrete wall to contain it.
There are some great 'CLUMPING' bamboos though.
According to the link below, yes, it can be grown there.

I became interested in bamboo when I moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in 1972 to work with the New Alchemy Institute, a research and education group seeking safer and more energy-efficient ways to provide basic human needs. Of the world’s major crops and trees we surveyed, bamboo stood out as a superstar, used by more humans on the earth for more different purposed than any other plant

I am not sure if it grows that far north, but beware. Bamboo can totally overtake your yard. It's a relative of grass, after all. I believe my mom's neighbor in PA had some so I know it grows at least that far north. Ask at Lowe's or Home Depot, someone in the plant department should be able to tell you.

You can grow bamboo pretty much anywhere. But I don't recommend it......it gets out of control, has deep roots and is very hard to get rid of!

If you're serious, why not give it a try? What's it going to cost?
