What characterizes popular attitudes about the relationship between science and religious belief? I'm trying to locate and gather examples from such sources as radio, television, newspapers, periodicals, etc.

Theories in science definitely do not support the beliefs in religion especially with regards to the evolution of man and the beginning of the world. Thus, there is no point of mixing what is being accepted in science vis-a-vis religion.

Of course.
It took centuries for scientists to convince religious leaders that the Earth went round the Sun instead of the Sun going round the Earth and now we have a similar dispute between creationists and evolutionists

some are against. some are using some science to prove gods existence.
